This unusual period of self-quarantine that we are all in has left us all with a lot of time on our hands. A whole lot more time at home to spend with family and with pets and of course getting all the things done that we have always put off! But with this time, I have found some value as I have spent some rewarding hours reflecting on my life. Specifically, I have been thinking about how well I am doing at achieving my mission and purpose in life.
Briefly, my mission as a formulator is to explore and expose the real science behind ingredients, while my purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people around me. Taking a step back to look at the bigger picture is something that we, or at least I don’t do often enough.
With this introspection came a lot of thought about my branding and my position in this dynamic and fast-evolving health optimization space. I want my influence to be in line with my purpose. That is why I have decided to shift my branding a little to focus more on exposing the truth behind the ingredients we use on a daily basis, and to give you the knowledge to make better decisions about what goes into your mouth, helping you get closer to living a more optimized life. The reality is that most of the ingredients in the foods and supplements we’re consuming could be of better quality, have better bioavailability or simply be better ingredients, period.
To clarify, when I talk about ingredients, I am talking about any compound, molecule or nutrient that we put into food and beverages or into supplements, that may or may not have a beneficial effect on our health. At the end of the day, they’re all ingredients that we add to formulations to create a product with a desired outcome. I have spent my life researching new compounds, learning about how they affect the human body and using them in unique and wonderful combinations with several of the biggest brands and people in the space. There are so many ingredients to explore, and my hope is to provide you with a little more insight into their mechanism of action, the various forms they come in and how we can best use them to optimize our health.
So, what’s changed? Well, across all social media platforms, I am now known as @ingredientologist. YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook and my website are where you’ll find all my past and recent posts. Apart from that, I am excited to share more content with you that dives into the world of ingredients and answers more of your burning questions.
In the upcoming weeks, I’ll be taking a deep dive into a few ingredients that we most commonly find in our immune supplement stacks. If we’re taking these daily in an attempt to ward off viruses and to improve the strength of our immune systems overall, we definitely want to understand all there is to know about these key ingredients! Because knowledge is power.
The four ingredients I will focus on at the moment are vitamin C, adaptogens, vitamin D3 and zinc. You’ll see frequent posts on social media with bite-sized information to help you become an expert on a particular ingredient. If you want a little head start, check out one of my previous videos I did on my Number 1 Supplement here. Follow me on Instagram @ingredientologist, and keep an eye on my website for more extensive information.
My goal is to help YOU achieve optimal health so I want to hear from you what you’d like to know more about. I will still speak beyond ingredients and supplements, covering topics like sleep, exercise, nutrition, mindfulness and stress, because at the end of the day, it is often the ingredients we choose that either positively or negatively affect our health. I’m here to expand your knowledge so that you can biohack yourself to become a better human! Biohacking is the art and science of changing the environment inside of us and outside of us to take full control of our biology. Are you really in control?
